Abstract

The study examines representation of Pakistani society in the English dailies of Türkiye and India through an approach based on qualitative research. The researchers gathered data from The Indian Express, The Statesman and The Hindu (India). Among dailies from Türkiye, the data was gained from Daily Sabah,  Hurriyet Daily News and Anadolu Ajansi. This research applies Fairclough’s Socio-Cultural Approach to Critical Discourse Analysis to the representation of the Pakistani society in the newspapers. Analysis shows that Turkish newspapers show positive views towards Pakistan with an emphasis on their strategic relationship and regional collaborative efforts. The political instability and security challenges faced Pakistan receive critical evaluation from numerous Indian newspapers. From a strategic viewpoint both the nations accept Pakistan's importance. The Turkish media reporters seem to work in a partnership-like manner whereas Indian media criticizes Pakistan due to its regional interests. The study delivers important findings about how different media resources define international perceptions through social stereotypes.
