This study investigates the relationship between Instagram usage intensity, self-esteem and body image satisfaction among undergraduate students. A quantitative research design, employing a correlation methodology was used to analyze data collected from 300 participants (150 males, 150 females) aged 17 to 25. The study utilized standardized scales to measure Instagram usage intensity, self-esteem (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale), and body image satisfaction (Body Image Satisfaction Rating Scale). The results revealed a significant negative correlation between Instagram usage intensity and body image satisfaction (r = −.327, p < .001), suggesting that higher engagement with Instagram is associated with lower body image satisfaction. However, no significant correlation was found between Instagram usage intensity and self-esteem (r = .042, p = .466). These findings highlight the potential negative impact of Instagram on body image satisfaction especially for those who engage with the platform more intensely while suggesting that Instagram usage does not significantly influence self-esteem in this population.
