DISTRACTORS IN UNDERGRADUATE LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN LAHORE: BARRIERS TO EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING
Abstract
The study focuses on the common classroom distractors in language teaching and learning at undergraduate level both in public and private sector in Lahore. The participants (teachers and students) were surveyed through interviewed. The data was processed and analyzed through NVivo software with thematic analysis of the recordings of all interviews. Distractors identified are students’ linguistic backgrounds, classroom settings, teaching approaches, and curriculum. These factors were found to hinder teaching effectiveness and language acquisition significantly. Addressing them is essential for improving language learning outcomes in diverse educational settings.
