Abstract

This study investigates how university students' sadness, sleep quality, and academic stress are related. The Academic Stress Scale (ASS), Sleep Quality Scale (SQS), and Siddiqui-Shah Depression Scale (SSDS) were among the self-report questionnaires used to gather data. Pearson correlation analysis, regression analysis, and mediation analysis were among the statistical studies carried out with SPSS. Significant correlations between academic stress, sleep quality, and depression were also discovered, indicating that students who are under more academic stress are more likely to report having worse sleep and more depressed symptoms. Furthermore, mediation analysis demonstrated that sleep quality plays a major mediating role in the association between academic stress and depression, indicating that inadequate sleep may worsen the detrimental effects of academic stress on mental health. This study emphasizes the importance of academic stress management techniques and good sleep hygiene for students' overall well-being.
